'Swallowed by Shadows'
Corrupt it was to grasp existence,
Let my heart malfunction rather than witness the pain.
The screaming torture of my soul,
sweating hands with gripping rage.
There was no winning force to look away.
Eyes twitching, tears unshed.
A throat tight with swallowed sorrow,
Teeth locked in silent screams.
Veins pulsing with restless fire,
A body trembling on the edge.
Thoughts too wild to tame,
A mind lost in blurred reflection.
Return to the shadows—easier to cope,
No light, no path, no way out.
Afraid to unravel, to be seen,
So I pretend—because it is safer.
The weight of pretending..
A hauntingly introspective poem that explores the weight of emotional turmoil, suppressed pain, and the struggle between facing reality and retreating into darkness. With vivid imagery and raw emotion, it delves into the depths of despair, the tension of pretending, and the yearning for escape.
